NE KS Indigenous Youth Gathering
The first North East Kansas Indigenous Youth Gathering was held today at the Lied Center in Lawrence.
Approximately 130 middle and high school students from three school districts gathered to hear guest speakers, Representative Christina Haswood (Diné) and former NFL player Levi Horn (Northern Cheyenne). Lunch was provided by Jason of the Native Chef and Seedlings and Sustenance of the HINU Extension Office provided boxes with activities, information, and cultural items to the students. Each student left with a bundle of white sage.
